Next to the typical open funding approach, in 2021 the new EIC Accelerator has launched two challenge-driven calls for projects addressing, specifically, digital and health technologies and the so-called Green Deal innovations.
For these calls, the EIC has allocated an additional budget of about €495 million coming from the NextGenerationEU, the stimulus package designed to boost the economic recovery and help build the post-COVID-19 Europe.
The EIC Accelerator challenges focus on the EU’s priorities for transitioning to a green, digital and healthy society and are expressly intended to foster the development of the EU’s industrial leadership in tomorrow’s strategic technologies.
Such an approach, already experimented in 2020 with the one-off Green Deal call, is now a key feature of the fully-fledged EIC Accelerator, with new Strategic Challenges to be announced every year.
But what actually intends the EIC for digital and health technologies? And what are the projects eligible under the Green Deal-innovation definition?
